Country Meadows and the Ecumenical Retirement Communities are searching for a motivated Journalism and Communications Intern for the fall semester. This part-time, paid internship with a flexible schedule will run through December 15, 2017. In the role of communications intern, the successful candidate will act as a “journalist” at our non-for-profit Ecumenical campus in Harrisburg, PA, getting to know staff and residents, conducting interviews, writing stories and taking corresponding photographs. At least two completed stories a week will be expected. The intern will report to the Executive Director of Communications, who will act as counselor to help the intern develop campus relationships to find appropriate stories to represent the Ecumenical brand as well as to hone writing, editing and communication skills. Additionally, the intern will research online opportunities via blogs, social media channels, content-appropriate organization websites and influencers to share content thus promoting Ecumenical Retirement Communities. In addition to general subjects, another one of the intern’s assignments will be to meet with residents who served in America’s war efforts to capture the individuals’ stories. The Intern may also be assigned to write news releases, tip sheets and marketing materials as needed.
