Kevin Byrne, senior vice president of public and community relations for the Baltimore Ravens, will be the featured speaker March 10, 2015, at York College of Pennsylvania. This will be a Central PA PRSA-PRSSA-YCP dinner.
Byrne, who has been an integral part of the franchise for 34 years, oversees the Ravens’ public and community relations departments. During his NFL career, he has started team marketing, TV and website departments. Byrne has provided media relations assistance at 25 Super Bowls and two Pro Bowls at the NFL’s request. His duties have also included contract negotiations, directing the team’s marketing department and serving on committees to interview and select Ravens head coaches.
Non-members are welcome.
Byrne recently handled PR for the Ray Rice controversy. This will be an exciting evening!
PRSA Mid-Atlantic District APR Boot Camp

The PRSA Mid-Atlantic District is hosting the country’s first-ever APR Boot Camp April 16-19 at the Jefferson Lakeside Country Club in Richmond, Va.! The APR Boot Camp is a four-day intensive course for candidates to prepare and advance through the Readiness Review™ and take the computer-based Examination for Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) or Accreditation in Public Relations + Military Communication (APR+M). This course is designed to provide a setting that will meet the needs of busy professionals whose schedules don’t permit extensive preparation time.
The cost is $400. Please note: There is an additional $385 fee to take the APR exam; however, those fees are at least partially reimbursed by both PRSA National, pending successful completion of the exam.

“PRSA’s PR For a Day” is a Central PA Chapter initiative to use your PR superpowers to give back to the many communities in which we work and live.
On Friday, April 24, 2015, our Chapter members will be partnered with a the small non-profit agency in their area to donate their experience and talent to the public relations or marketing projects of firms lacking appropriate skills or resources.
Preparations for this great event are under way, but we will still be happy to accommodate volunteers who are interested!
